Agatha arrived in her small red car. She had been called in for consulting again. Her previopus succes as a forensic psychologist had been noted by the police.
The first person she encountered was a young policewoman she knew by the name of Sally Miller, she told her that she was her offical assistant for the case, and she begin to brief Agatha:
"In the house here live e ...[text shortened]... to have been in their verious rooms until they were disturbed by Prof. peckers finding of the body."
[just quoting because it's a lot to remember 😉 ]

"OK, I'll go, and why is everyone looking at me?" said Evan Danvers. "I've been clean and sober for four years and 31 days, and although my mind is branching out in all directions of course I don't want to make any false accusations or surmises.

"Of course I would never do such a thing, and although I wouldn't say Marjorie and I knew each other well or at all, she did on several occasions redeliver several misdirected packages to my door on her own initiative, and my general sense regarding those occasions was that she had a nice vibe.

"Also, although it seemed to me we might have slightly appreciated each other's looks and ways, somehow I intuited that she would have agreed with me that a hookup in such close quarters would probably be a bad idea.

"But no, I didn't push her down the stairs or give her drugs that might cause her to stumble (e.g., dusting her doorknob with fentanyl or novichok), and although I might have my own vague suspicions, those could be just my imagination. I hope you understand, Detective. I myself have been the target of false accusations, so I want to be careful about that."

Evan settled back into his lone wooden chair, seeming to implode after such an unexpected and frank outburst.

"Maybe for context I'll add that even though we have a shared kitchen in this apartment house, we never just hang out together around a kitchen table. That would have been nice."

"How would you know, Evan?" interjected Angie Sanglant. "You stay in your room all day blasting Yuki Chiba and Al Stewart through the walls."

"Thank you, Mr. Danvers. Would you mind sharing your own observations, Ms. Sanglant?" asked Detective Miller.

"In fact I found the idea to move into a big house with several co-inhabitants quite cool and decided to ahve a go, but as an author it is hard on me that there are always people not respecting rules."

Oh no, I didn't talk of marjorie, though I think she overdid it with the booze, but I have never suspected her to take any other drugs. "
"I myself are a person who likes to work in silence and though I thought the setting would be inspiring with different personalities I have to admit, that most of te people around are quite boring in terms of serving as persona for a novel."

Caroline SREAMED in TERROR upon seeing the body of Margaret in the upper chamber closet.

Everyone stampeded upstairs. Caroline pointed in shock toward the closet where she had found Margaret Brown, Marjorie's twin sister.

Vanessa Conquest said, "Can we wrap things up? My yoga class starts in about 20 minutes."

Agatha ignored Vanessa and pointed at Robert Mottler. "You. I wasn't quite sure downstairs but now your body language and eye movements have confirmed it. You had some kind of grudge against the Brown sisters. Would you mind telling us about that?"

Lets not jump to conclusions, Sam said. Look at the bite marks on her neck. Do they match the pattern? We've seen this before. When was it?

Detective Sarah Miller interrupted Sam. "Our special investigative consultant Agatha Gristley has asked you a question. Are you so disrespectful of women that you won't answer?"

Dr. Henry Mortimer entered the room and asked if someone could help him examine the cat, because of his allergy to cats.

Sam was about to launch into some post-gender tirade when the room suddenly got chilly and time seemed to slow down.

Poor Caroline, still aghast and shocked from her earlier discovery, pointed at the Ouija board on the coffee table, whose planchette eventually spelled out SAMLOVEDTHEMTWO.

No, you didn't. It's just that some of these people are no fun any more. 😉

Agatha heard the familiar purr of her little red car revving up, but stood steadfast in her duty.

"That wasn't me driving off," said Vanessa. "It's not as if there were any hot prospects in that yoga class anyway."

Just then, Dr. Henry Mortimer's young assistant Eridani who was far from cat-allergic approached him to report: "Vro, the cat knew. I started with a retinal scan, but the cat saw all of it and even knew which murders would happen in advance. I'm not ready to go yet. Please help me!"

Dr. Mortimer tutted to himself regarding Eridani's usage of "Vro". He didn't know whether to feel disrespected, appreciated, or perhaps desired.

But Eridani's vibe seemed respectful enough, undesirous, understandably possibly slightly approval-seeking, and perhaps fearful given the circumstances, so he let what a long moment ago he might have considered a faux-pas go, and thanked Eridani for stepping in where he himself could not.

However, before he had worked through all of that and returned his attention to the present moment, Eridani lay dead at his feet.

"I'll take that," said Sam.
"Take what?" asked Dr. Mortimer.
"The SD-card your assistant was trying to hand to you, with the data from the cat's retinal and cortical scans."
Agatha and Det. Miller looked at each other.

Sally Miller said even more than Agatha might have also been thinking.

"To hell with these people! They are a childish, vicious, and vituperative lot! We should seal them inside their apartment house and turn deaf ears to their eventual screams as they murder each other!"

Agatha thought Detective Miller's outburst was rather unprofessional, but was also pleasantly surprised at Sally's deployment of "vituperative".

Poirot didn't quite cough before saying, "Yes, that might have been quite a grand summation for the more excitable among us; however, Detective Miller's outburst did call my attention to this particular of the matter: as far as we know, none of the dead were heard to scream as they died, not even the cat."
