-- The End --
"Not so fast," said "dead" Eridani, rising to their full height of 5'8".

Perhaps startled, Clouseau tumbled down the stairs while retying a shoe. "No need for concern," he said as he sprinted back up. "Without daily practice how can one develop such skills?"

Holmes managed to obtain a pinch of tobacco from Clouseau's left nostril, and despite its being about 140 years old, easily rattled off the name of the store where it was sold, the location of the fields where the tobacco was grown, and the name of the woman who had originally bought that packet of tobacco, for reasons he did not care to disclose.

"Would you mind explaining how this pinch of tobacco got up your left nostril in the first place?"

"Stand down, Sherlock!" said Eridani. "Let's not digress overmuch from the murders at hand."

Vanessa and Sam looked at each other.

"Haha," said Eridani. "As if the rest of us didn't see that. But of course now we have to consider whether that might have been a deliberate ploy to make us think you were the murderers and perhaps protecting someone else, or maybe smart enough to realize that your behavior so far absolutely paints you as the most likely murderers even though you are mostly innocent, at least in this case."

"And to think I only pay you 8.25 an hour," muttered Dr. Mortimer.

"Yeah, no kidding, Doc, but let's hear what Vanessa and Sam have to say. Would it surprise you to learn that at one point in her patchy career Vanessa was an expert toxicologist? Or that Sam -- as plain and average as he might seem at first glance -- has some interesting secrets of his own?"
