Thanks for the input, guys. Anyone care to vote thumbs up or down on Gateway. There is one on sale at Office Depot. Anyone have good or bad experience going that route? Thanks.

Right now I'd not buy a pre-built over-the-counter PC. You'll get it loaded with M$ Vista, and the license for Vista is of the BOHICA kind. Ask for a Linux computer if you don't want to get shafted every month for the next five years, or try to see if you can still get one with XP.

Why don't you pick a particular model and price from 3 manufacturers and we can "help" you decide? Do you want a core duo/quad-core or what kind of processors? Do you want an expensive gaming rig or a celeron type processor to surf the web/do simple word processing?
