I've heard good things about "Motorcycle Diaries".
You must have a good art house or independent cinema near you. You're very lucky.
Both "Friday Night Lights" and "Ladder 49" are supposed to be pretty good.
I really enjoyed "Sky Captain and the World Of Tomorrow". It was surprisingly entertaining and fun. Very nostalgic.
you've probubly already been-but i saw "hero" on tuesday. excellent film!
also-does anyone know if tarintino directed it? cause it says "quentin tarintino presents", but it seems very different from his other films, although that is just looking back at it...it's not what i thought when i saw it, but that mainly because i wasn't thinking about that casue it's too good a damn film to be bothered about such things! maybe it was a tarintion film then?

Originally posted by geniusNo, the director is Zhang Yimou - this is an entirely Chinese film, though it might have had some Western influences on it. Originally it only got released in China (AFAIK) but it became so enormously popular there and on DVD that they re-released it around the world. "Quentin Tarantino presents" just means that he's seen the film and likes it, which is presumably a way of selling it to Western audiences.

Originally posted by AcolyteI think it's a little bit more than that. My understanding is that Tarantino was instrumental in bringing the film to Western audiences, and spoke at length to Miramax to try and ensure they didn't cut scenes (but yes, he certainly didn't have a hand in the direction or production of the piece).

Originally posted by T1000Yes, that makes sense. Why do most Hollywood producers/distributors seem to have such poor taste in films?
