In my defence, I don't own a television, but still it's pretty sad that I haven't heard of any of these. Well, I've heard of "Hero" and "Motorcycle Diaries", but only because they've been discussed in the forums here before!!

...I need to get out more often. 😳

My guess would be that the generally risk averse large-scale producers/distributors pander to the poor taste of the largest common denominator of the public. Understandable I suppose but no less unfortunate 🙁

I think it probably runs right the way down to the cinemas too. In Exeter we have an Odeon and a Picturehouse. I never know whether the Odeon's hands are tied in terms of the films they show due to agreement with Hollywood companies, or because they too are too afraid too show them, and prefer instead to stick to guaranteed money-spinners (guaranteed since the public have already been told that they would like to watch this film). I suspect the latter, though I may well be incorrect.

our local cinema's this kick-ass little indpendent one - they have late showings every wednesday. i saw shreck2 the otehr week, and it was the birds last week! and everyone's sooooooooo into the films-tis great!

and ncrosby-if anything, i think we need to get out more...
