A good division of something into categories is one which leaves nothing left over. Apparently, religion is a hard-to-classify item in our forums. Possibly changing the title of <Debates> to <Serious Discussion> or something would solve this problem.

Sorry; don't think that's going to do it. The only way to get the preachers out of the "General" forum is to give them their own forum.

Why? Once a clear place has been made, and maybe a few threads moved, I think the message will be got.

Did we pay to subscribe to this site to listen to evangelism? Put the evangelism in it's own forum. Why did nobody respond (besides Mr Pimp) when I said there would be NO problems in the forum had there been no evangelism by RBHILL?

Having a separate religion forum offends my aesthetic desire for generality more than evangelism offends my preference for secular communities, so I stand by my recommendation.

Ok...you want evangelism so you can visit the forum (if Russ creates one). I don't wish to be subject to evangelism so I don't have to visit the forum. We both get what we want. That's a win-win proposition. What is wrong with that? BTW, you didn't address the question I asked.

Please! That makes no sense! You say it's prettier to keep the forums more "general" and that a religious forum would make the site more "religious." We can't keep the christians out of here; the best we can do is give them their own place where they can preach to one another and leave me the heck alone. What could be more "secular" than allowing the athiests to maintain their convictions (or lack thereof) in peace?!!

He is just siding with his clan leader. We all can tell his statement was nonsensical.

Hey! I just had a brilliant idea!

How about we make an Atheist Sandbox forum. This forum
could be home to all of the posters who don't want to mingle
with the Christians! What a great idea! They could all go
there to play and not have to worry about encountering
the scary Christian threads in the real forums!

How does this sound? It's essentially the same as Feivel's
idea, but somehow, I like it a lot better!

Well, I'm starting to learn. Using big words makes you smart, right?

You've either not read my post or you're making a bit of a scarecrow of me. I don't mean 'general' in the sense of the title of this forum. I mean that, logically, there must be a better way of dividing the posts into forums that is not so uneven in its level of specificity as a separate religion forum. Besides, atheists shouldn't need to be shielded from religion to maintain they're convictions. In fact, part of atheism is not having convictions, as I see it. Maintained convictions are possessions of stupid people, not atheists in general.

As to Feivel's point, I suppose you should reread my post, unless you didn't mean the word 'you' in the way it is normally used, because I only wish to do two things with evangelism, namely to mock it or ignore it.

OK; I am not going to let you drag us into yet another religious debate. All I'm saying is that I'm not interested in converting and that's that.

Then don't convert. I have no interest in converting either. So I won't convert, unless I am convinced of the existence of God, in which case no faith would be involved and I still wouldn't be religious. If your atheism is too fragile to allow you to see some evangelism, then perhaps you should think of some reasonable justification for it, otherwise you're not a proper atheist.

Did anybody hear me call myself an athiest?

Fact is, you're using the word athiest when you really mean agnostic. That's the word that means lack of conviction. There are preachers; people who try to get me and other RHP users to convert to christianity. I feel these "preachings" have no place in the "General" forum.

Present company excluded; none of you guys have ever tried to turn me Christian. Other users have.
