What if I'm only (currently anyway) intrested in private games and am not intrested in invites to play, is there a setting so I don't waste peoples time?

Just don't accept the game offer, if somebody invites you to play.

Simple as that.

I don't know what Shanshu is talking about but set your max games in progress to 0 and no one can challenge you. However you can still challenge people (up to the normal limit of 6).

You could entitle it "War Is War, Loser", or anything you choose...
