British Ale is a winner. There's another venerable one I used to purchase around the holidays... can't quite remember the name. Help me.

Edit: Maybe it was Samuel Smith from Yorkshire. Ale or beer? Still around?

I live in Newcastle and I've still never tried it. You know when you can just smell danger...

I'll give you a tip. Never lay down on your bed with an open bottle of Nuky Brown in your coat pocket. 🙁

Big Lamp Brewery used to produce a fave of mine "Old Genie". The pub I frequented was a freehouse, but favoured Theakston's ales, brewed at Masham in Yorkshire. Hand pulled "Old Peculier" was always a good pint.

It is a truth that some of the best ales are brewed in the north of England. 😀
