Just what z00t ordered :- "I'm sorry booze-boy, but I can't let you drive..."

Boffins at car manufacturer Nissan are developing a concept car that can monitor whether a driver is drunk or tired.

The car's technology will use sensors to detect alcohol in the sweat and odour of a driver, as well as checking awareness levels.

Sensors are placed in the gear stick to measure the amount of perspiration on the driver's hand and odour detectors are fitted into the driver and passenger seats.

SO drunken paaengers will be banned too? Nice idea, b ut there are many technological quandaries involved. I do hope they solve it though.

Ha! It is all a smoke screen. Like I believe they are going to actually implement facial recognition software for the onboard cameras that can tell when a person is drowsy or intoxicated. The real reason for this new technology is just an excuse to get Big Brother's camera in the cars so they can watch you any time they want.

fEAR the Technloogy!

Just automate cars so it doesn't matter whether or not if you are drunk or tired. They can already park themselves...

What a stupid concept - that would take all of the fun out of driving. Way to go, douchebag. Some people are just retarded, honestly driving drunk/talking on the phone? Annoying, dangerous, and stupid.

Nah, horse manure. Just one more system that is doomed to fail on your auto. And another that the auto technicians will have to be trained to diagnose and repair. It won't happen.

What's so stupid about it? Granted it would take the fun out of driving which would be a drag, butit would also be a safer mode of transportation, especially if older models were retrofitted to be so.
FYI, NJIT has already produced a successful prototype of a fully automated vehicle, so it's just a matter of time.
It's just a natural progression oftechnology. Call me a douchebag if you may, but I'd rather be that than a closed minded ignoramus like yourself....

The ones with white coats are the doctors, not the patients.

Time for your afternoon pill.
