I've sussed it out at last. The reason i was getting so many blooming popups on this site was because a sneaky little toe rag programme had installed itself called abetterinternet. I tried using Spybot S + D but didn't remove it so i went in there armed with a mouse and trash can and deleted the little ^&(*&^%. Hopefully it is gone for good.

I hate those programs. I think I'm to the point now that I can watch a computer boot up and tell if it has spyware on it. For example, on a 2.4 MHZ system with 500-1000 megs of ram, running WinXP, you can start counting seconds when you see the Windows logo on the screen.

If it takes longer than 8 seconds for the transition of showing the logo streaming to the main screen, then you either have a fragmented hard drive or you have spyware! 😳

Hmm, it took 11 minutes for someone to ask me that.

"GIANT Antispyware" and "Spy Sweeper". They detected practically all the malware used in the test.

Well webroot spy sweeper costs $40 usually. On special offer at the moment fro $30. And as for GIANT antispyware, well it did cost a subscription charge but guess what: -

On December 16, 2004, Microsoft announced its acquisition of GIANT Company Software. Microsoft will continue to provide support for the Spam Inspector, Popup Inspector, and Giant AntiSpyware products. For Giant AntiSpyware products, Microsoft will continue to release updated spyware definition files on an ongoing basis. Further information for customer support for these products is available through the Support page. Microsoft, however, will no longer sell new licenses, subscriptions, or subscription renewals for GIANT Company Software products.

Whereas spybot S+D is completely free of charge. Although it is supported by voluntary contributions.
What I can't understand is that, all these companies such as symantec and network associates etc are making huge sums of money off the back of a rubbish OS's failings. So on top of the extortionate fee you have to pay for MS's second rate products you then have to go and buy a firewall, AV, a popup stopper, a spyware detector and cleaner, a spam washing facility, the list goes on.

Two very annoying things for me running this site :

1) The amount of feedback from people saying 'I didn’t get my verification email'. They are always sent, it is just that some ISPs suck them down a big black hole. And then I can't even respond to the feedback, because they will most likely go the same way.... ISPs, grrrr.

2) People going nuts about pop-ups, which quite reasonably, people then blame on the site. (The pop-ups appears when using RHP, therefore they must come from RHP, right?) Well, we don't serve pop-up ads because we know how annoying they are. Never have done. Spyware, grrrr.

In this case, I am very pleased you have found the true cause.
