No such thing...

No such thing as a meaningless lie. Seems a guy who doesn't really fit in attempting to post meaningfully in this forum is kidding himself.

Since Christmas playing hardball with myself, weighing pros and cons, considering other viable options. Games down to three. Still unsure.

All I've ever known is Red Hot Pawn, although I'm aware that many members also play regularly on other sites. What, in your opinion, are RHP's

primary advantages over its on-line chess site competitors (game/forum features, access reliability, member maturity, tone of civility, fee, etc)?

Competition is fierce here at RHP. My rating is allot higher at other chess sites, while this is great for my ego, I find it is totally unrealistic. When considering my rating and true playing ability, I'll stick with my RHP stats.

GB you take what's said here waaaaay too seriously. Remember this is an internet site and as such you'll "meet" all kinds.......remember ALL kinds. What was it, grain and salt? Pick and choose your friends.

True words indeed. Best spoken when holding a gun on a friend turned enemy.

Have you been exposed to a pathogen?

I think you should visit and learn all about other chess sites and come back to give us your findings.

5 years plus or so should do the trick. Looking forward to your findings.

Ah come on Gramps, it's not that bad. Even the General Forum (where all the bad boys hang out) has interesting threads and serious people. But it is a marketplace of ideas and you are going to get the occasional idiot standing on the street corner spewing nonsense, so just walk on by. Have you tried some of the other forums?

As far as games, well this is a chess site. Expand your horizons and play someone other than your brother and that tight circle of friends. One way to do that is join a clan that is actively playing a lot of games. Pooh is now hiring, hint, hint. 😉

Thoughtful reply as always, Moose, and you do raise an interesting chess profile question. Since July, 2007, I've completed 392 games or 18.7

games per month (392 games/21 months) with a total of 123 different opponents, averaging 3.2 games per opponent (392/123). Your stats?

Not as good as yours sir. 😳 :'( 😞 Been here 20 months with 346 games for 17.3 gpm. I do have a few thousand more moves and 45 more GIP's, so maybe I can bump that stat on up there by the end of the year. Of course there is no debate about rating, yours is far better.

My only point in the first post was to encourage you to stay around. I thought if you played more and different people, it would bring some of the old excitement back. 🙂 In the past year (April 07-Apr 08), you have completed 90 games....39 of them against Kiki46.

You neglected to mention number of opponents you've played. Rating's not the issue. 'Horizon' of opponents is. Appreciate your encouragement.

No problem whatsoever, Divegeester. Just a little situation, a minor challenge of trying

to make a sound decision as to whether to maintain the status quo or maybe alter it.
