I have accidently blocked the active x control on a site with 'block always' and cannot for the life of me find out how to change this today. I have succesfully done it previously for other sites but unable to do so for todays site.

I should be able to get to a list where I can enter the site name (if it 's not already there) and then remove the block active x check box.

I am finding the Norton help guide to be about as useful as a motivational speech by mateulose right now...

It's really beginning to bug me as I really need to get to the site in question, can anyone please advise?

You may be able to help me! I have the same Norton program. I accidentally clicked 'always block' when I first connected to the World Chess Network after installing Norton. I haven't been able to figure out how to reverse my idiot move. Can you help?

Hope so:

go to the Norton Internet Security console thingy

then choose Privacy Control > click Configure > click Advanced

look for the site on the list that appears:

if it is not listed, add it using the add site button
if/when it is listed click on it once

select the 'user settings' panel
where it says 'ActiveX controls' uncheck the box for Use Personal Firewall settings, and select the 'Permit' Radio button.

Click ok to finish.

When you go to the site the ACtiveX will still be blocked, but use Ctrl + F5 to refresh the page (alternatively empty your browser cache), and it should then work.

Good luck

Andy

Edit - you may need to repeat this from time to time, not sure why but the site I have the same problem with goes back to being blocked occasionally.

It turns out your problem and mine are different. i blocked the wcn 'client' from accessing the internet, not active x from the site. Once I realized that, I stopped looking in the wrong place and went to the firewall setting and bingo... two wcn files were listed, 'blocked'. I unblocked them and works fine now. Thanks.
