Without knowing the source, I would bet he was referring to Protestants who baited Catholics.

Yes, I got that the first time around. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I don't happen to have a copy lying around. If I happen to stumble across a one in the bargain bin at Borders I'll be sure to pick it up.
