Debate on the war is unquestionably healthy. However, now that it has started with or without legality, morality or public support, shouldn't we be asking how it will end? Shouldn't that now be the crux of our leaders' and generals' endless oratory? We are not fighting in Iraq for the sake of going on safari. We are apperently over there to liberate the country. We need to think about the Iraq people's over the next sixty yers, and not just the next six months.
Err, anyone has anything to say on the issue?
have read something in the forums about
- ethnic factions wanting to break off and form an independent state in the north (hence turkish involvement)
- potential for great difficulties in taking Baghdad
saw something interesting on the news-
-an Iraqi mutely greating the soldiers, but asking frantically asking where's the food and aid.
-Bush and Blair haven't exactly broke into their usual garrulous loquacity on the subject of about post-war Iraq.
It seems like the further we go in to the war the worse its looking.... Honestly, there is more and more "friendly fire" casualties, which is just unacceptable.
Second, the advancement is slowing down and the supply lines are in danger
Third, the north is a political hell with turky possibly getting involved.
Fourth, humanitarian aid to the people is hard to secure in current conditions etc etc...
And innocent people die more and more every day while saddam and his regime boast with captured americans and shot down apaches.
Im not feeling very good about this war and seems like now evenBush and Ramsfeld admit that this is only the beginning... Beginning of what I wonder....
It may well be the start of a lot of intolerance in my opinion. What has really disturbed me here in the states is the whole anti-French kick. I mean really now! Boycott France, eh? All that publicity about the fellow who returned the award the French gave him. I wonder, do we intend to return the statue of liberty as well?😛
On the selfish note, I don't worry about terrorists or Iraq. What makes me concerned is all the countries we're pissing off by going against the will of the UN. I tell you, my countrys government is really screwed up nowadays! The only outcome I see being definite from this war is a whole lot of unneccesary death. Death for soldiers. Death for Iraqi citizens. Possibly even death for US citizens (dependant on just how badly we pissed of some feydakin). 🙁
Y are you wooried about boycotting french products?
they have boycotted our products for 5 years now, despite europe saying they cant.
fact 1) france has had mad cow disease since the middle ages
fact 2)the french have labeled it 'magnessium defitiency
fact 3)our mad cow outbreak was caused by imported cattle from france
fact 4)even in the worst period we had less 'madcows' than the french
fact 5)we stopped selling british meat during this period, replacing it with french meat (the fools, c fact 4)
fact 6)foot and mouth out break was caused by imported meat
yet we in britain, with the most strict higene laws in the world, have unsafe meat!
im all for the boycotting of french products, after all they do still owe america millions of dollars from wars in the past!
If we were to boycott them for the quality of their product I wouldn't mind. It is the "why" that bothers me. We are initiating a boycott because they opposed us in the UN. This is rediculous! How blatently ironic that a democratic nation would take such action because a democratic proceeding did not favor them. Now, if their product is bad then sure, let's stay away from the stuff. But because of an opinion?😛

How the heck did you just diagnose cows from hundreds of years ago? Or did some of your scientist have some french cows frozen so that now after the out brake you decided to check them?
And all your facts, where do they come from?
Yea, there was mad cow out brakes all over,m but england it was the most wide spread...
And what the heck does mad cow decease have to do about this war? are you suggesting that in fact a french mad cow caused Bush to go crazy? I just cant correlate banning products due to a decease with a boykot started because "i dont like those damn french"... Slightly different cases i would imagine?

I believe that Bush and Blair have a blueprint for the post-Saddam government of Iraq. It will be democratic and Iraq will have the same borders as it does now (so no independent Kurd state). It's also reported that Bush has been putting out tenders for post-war reconstruction contracts to US firms. I assume that oil contracts will be similarly awarded. So it's fair to assume that the new democratically elected government will do what it's told on many issues. Reconstruction work could take up to a decade to complete so I predict that the Iraqi people will be voting in pro-american governments for some time to come.
Mick 😕
But I don't get why everyone wants War on Chiraq, he ain't done much wrong. Not like Le Pen, he is a racist. I don't like racists. I have a black mate and I call him Paki for a joke, but I don't stab him in the chest or nothing like that, because my mum don't let me play with knifes, and also if i do that he will kill me with his AK47.

i would like to think that no body here is thinking that bush is liberating iraq ?
and about the mad cow thingy - we had a little of it over here (in ireland) but thankfully it was held in check - we still could not export the Moo Moo's though - even china would not buy em...funny really because its been in china for centuries :-)
