Sidestepping the metaphysical and spiritual conundrums….

I’m going to go out on limb and say that if the story is true, (I’m skeptical) and if the full promise and potential of the technique can be realized, then this is possibly the most significantly seminal medical advance since the polio vaccine or antibiotics. What I found most amazing is their suggesting human trials in a matter of months. Very exciting

If we die and then they bring us back to life... well, where does that leave our soul?
Descartes has all the answers you need:

1. Dogs do NOT have souls; they are automata and cannot even feel pain.
2. Souls, being wholly non-physical and as such are not located in nor extended in space. Hence it is meaningless to ask 'where' a soul is.

Not in Decartes:

Sometimes we say a soul has gone to heaven, or to hell, but these should be thought of as states of being rather than locations.

When you die, your soul does not go anywhere; rather its capacity to interact with your body via the pineal gland at the base of your brain is switched off. Resurrection is merely the restoration of this capacity.

Yeah, I kind of wonder if it's true too. A friend fw'ed the story to me but I didn't see it on the News.

The sooner the better. And let's cross fingers the technique doesn't work.

Only a dfm like yourself wouldn't know that the correct term was articulosity... Rhymes with velocity, oh tongue that slithers... What a paucity of vocabulosity!

Ya know, here's my thinking on this:

They can take a heart out of a person, refrigerate it, put it in another person and zap it back into beating again...

BUT, what they have accomplished is the resuscitation of animal tissue. Try this trick with a brain and see what you get! I'm going on record to say that any person who dies and get's resuscitated by this method will not have a mind! 😲
