There is no doubt that the UK is leading the way on restricting people's right to privacy:

DNA collection is rife and even if your proved innocent it is unlikely your details will be removed - well documented cases of Children's DNA being kept on file.

ID cards are coming soon. Will they incorporate RFID? How far away are we from having our every move traked? If the US can make records of phone calls, how difficult would it be to make a record every hour of a person's location? Guess that's why Europe want its own network of sats...

Retina scans, DNA info. How long until the gov. starts flogging the data to health companies. Problem in UK is we are run by the corporates not the gov.

I'll just wait now for someone to say "If you've got nothing to hide, you've nothing to worry about!". Tell that to your grandchildren when they can't get a job/health insurance because of a marker discovered in your DNA.

It all makes me sick.

I guess we're 'wrong doers' because we want to preserve our rights to privacy. Go figure.

You probably happily let cops tear apart your car looking for drugs too huh?

I hear that in some parts of the UK, they have DNA collections of over 3/4 of all black males.
Go figure.

Of course! Even the anal searches don't bother me since I know I don't have any drugs.

And you know what else pisses me off? People who make up their mind about something before they get all of the information. Let's say there's an online forum, maybe on a chess site. And there is someone satiring the far right way of thinking, but no one bothers to read all the posts which make it obvious that it's a satire. Let's get the full picture, people. That way we don't make idiots out of ourselves.

Get serious. It's nothing less than a blatant abrogation of our fourth amendment rights.

What's next? The first amendment, so that you won't even *hear* of the next amendment being shredded?

Some call it satire. Others just call it stupid.

Some call it getting defensive. I call it compensating for inattention.

Sorry to hear it, whichever way you label yourself.

You're right, I'm the inattentive one. I did realize that some people wouldn't be able to see the sarcasm in my first. I did not realize that some people would be unable to see the sarcasm in the following posts. I should be more attentive of other's illiteracy/ignorance.

I deserve to be attacked for this grave error. What was I thinking? How can I make a joke that isn't apparent at first glance? I'm excluding stupid people from the fun. That's completely politically incorrect, and you have every reason to be mad.

EDIT: Just in case you didn't spot the sarcasm this time, I'll spell it out. Here's what I'm observing: You post in response to me without reading the thread. Upon realizing your mistake, you see two options. 1. Admit your mistake. 2. Attack me and make it seem like it's somehow my fault that you didn't get the joke. There was a third option, to simply edit your post, which apparently you didn't consider.

You should tell a Chuck Norris joke to be more inclusive.

As I understand it, this program does not involve the NSA listening to or recording conversations. But the agency is using the data to analyze calling patterns in an effort to detect terrorist activity. Customers' names, street addresses and other personal information are not being handed over as part of the program.

What is it that makes some of you uncomfortable?
