I think some people just create an offensive name to get a (fairly small) kick out of it. Take licalotapuss for example. Joined Nov 11 2002. Last moved Nov 12 2002. He created an account, gave himself (and maybe five other people) a chuckle and then moved on.
Then again he may have decided he needed a real name and taken a new nick. He could be here under a more respectable tag.
Others that quickly fell by the wayside were Mr Lovepants and chieflittledick. I'm not sure the admins need to keep all accounts active for people who stayed a few days and left. While it is mildly amusing (Mr Lovepants is my favourite) there sure seem to be a lot of them taking up a lot of space.
The only name I ever really found offensive was I F^k My Own Mother. I was in an internet cafe one day with people all around me and opened up the site and there it was. I decided I didn't want to check my games after all.

I have a life, and it doesn't involve being closed-minded and/or censorial.

so anything at all goes, by your lack of standards? absolutely any behaviour is acceptable, and anyone who objects is 'closed-minded and censorial'? if you think about it for just a minute, i'm sure you will retreat from that rather absurd position.
Originally posted by fiercefor your information, i am not religious at all - definitely agnostic. not that that is relevant, but since you seem to confuse religious belief with having behavioural standards...
It doesn't take many "moves" to detect another self-righteous religious zealnut who wants to tell everybody else what they can or can't call themselves. Who do you think you are anyway?

who do i think i am? i think i am a long-term (a couple of years now, 600+ games) user of the site and active forum participant with an interest in RHP remaining the great site it is. who are you? some newby who has not finished one game here, but who presumes to tell the rhp community what they should and should not discuss.

dfm65 is a fine individual and an excellent contributor to the site.
he has every right and good reason to draw attention to suspect usernames.
this is not an issue of censorship as much as an issue of graffiti - cubicle walls sometimes need washing.

ok, the cookie thing is getting really annoying now
elve were trying to have a sensible discussion about offensive usernames, do you think you could drop the cookie thing for a bit please.

The simple truth of the matter is there is no need for these offensive names.
Its not big and its not clever, its childish
Unless a username contains some obvious profanity that the bulk of the RHP community would find clearly offensive, I think people should be able to call themselves whatever they want. I mean "TOILET BOY" offensive? Give me a break! There are people who are far more easily offended than the average user of RHP and they'll always find something offensive, but I don't think we should drop to the level of allowing only what the most sensitive members are comfortable with. I personally couldn't care less what my opponents username is.
Originally posted by dfm65Toilet Boy is okay with me. But the other two I think should have their names changed. Nothing excuses "adreillikeslittleboy". That person is lucky they don't get banned from the site. If they want to talk about crap they can go to some other site because I don't have the patience for it here. ðŸ˜
On page 1 of the 'Public Games' display right now are usernames including 'TOILET BOY', 'andreilikeslittleboy' and 'checkmateBITCH'.
is it just me, or does anyone else find these offensive, or potentially so. i admit there is some ambiguity with the second, but it sounds very suspicious to me...
first of, not a pawn star user so my opinion does not seem to count, but i'll give it anyways for what little it may be worth to people.
simply do not play people whose names you find offensive. if a persons name is realy offensive and everyone aderes to it, then they will have no games.
If they have games against others, it has nothing to do with you
so relax.
(i not want a fight or argumnet and have no intension coming searching forum for this thread over next while,{about to be away from site for a while for outside activities})

since you admit in your profile that the forums are too intellectual for you and you don't understand what is going on, why don't you butt out and let the grown-ups talk?
Dont use my age against me because you dont have the ability to counter my arguments.
I have found the most amazing little link at the bottom of each page of posts and even at the bottom of the posting page itself with the title of Terms of Service. A small of portion of which I have copied below:
Post, email or otherwise make available any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;
I may be extemely misinformed or just plain stupid but a large number of the responses on this thread strike me as being in violation.
It was a legitimate and simple question, respectfully phrased.
For those who have been respectful in their response. I am profoundly grateful. The rest of you... Have a great day!
EDG, I personally am fond of any cookie that someone is kind enough to bake for me....but, I harbour a deep passion for chocolate chip cookes.

Admittedly my post is off-topic, but the opinion of non-stars is important, or at least it should be in view of the fact that I made nearly 1 000 posts as a non-star 😉.
Do I get BDG points for that paragraph?
