I'm surprised you read it. It's like those "terms and conditions" things you have to check all the time on the internet. Who reads them?
Alternatively you could always pretend that you're lying (not to suggest that you would use an engine, just that you reserve the right to use one, a la Life of Brian).

I used to breeze right past those. Then I was signing up for something or another and as I scrolled past the TOS at lightning speed, I noticed something.....

"We reserve the right to sell your personal information to marketing and sales companies for the purpose of marketing research, for direct marketing via mail, telephone and e-mail, and for other purposes not specifically stated".

As boring as they may be, I now read each one...
