Ok...Thunder Road...understood, but how can you forget Free Bird? Spanish Castle Magic? Behind Blue Eyes?
"It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win..."
These two sentences, above all else, rocked my world as a youth. There's no way any other rock song can replace them for me.
The same goes for "Murder in a red barn", as I grew up (in my twenties) I listened to lots of poetry, lots of lyrics and I read lots of material, but nothing stuck out like the sentences:
"Roadkill has its seasons just like anything, there's possums in the autumn and there's farm cats in the spring..."
and:
"Noone's asking Carl about the axe with blood stains in the barn,
There's always some killing you've got to do around the farm"
and:
"There's nothing wrong with a lady drinking alone in a room"
Especially with that vague tune going on behind it.
As for the rap song, for me it's a toss up between the intro to: "Where's me jumper" by the Sultans of ping FC and Dylan's "Subtereannean homesick blues".
I opt for the latter because it probably has one of the best and first video clips ever created.
