When did you start playing chess? What changes have you noticed in
your play during the course of your life? Do you think playing chess
has helped you stay sharp? I'm quite interested in how cognition
changes with age, and, more specifically, how one might stave off
some of the unfortunate cognitve side-effects that accompany aging.
None of this is meant to offend, nor am I insinuating that any
cognitive deficits have accompanied your aging. I watched my
grandfather, a physicist and gifted engineer, slip slowly into a
dementia over the past decade. I would prefer to avoid a similar fate.
Thanks,

I think it might have if i had played throughout my life but I only
played about 3 years when I was in my 20s thatn off and on after
that. I have been playing on this site and the Net-chess site for about
6 months now so not able to say if this would help or not. Just
remember though there are always other things that can happen. I
had several Focal Seizures last year that took some memory from me.
Doctor took care of me and am ok now. So when I lose a game that is
my excuse. Anyway All you can do is keep useing you mind and stay
fit.
