No, because if it was an Olympic sport it would be encouraged in the US instead of kids being ostracized for playing chess the ones good at it would be popular..... Poularity is a huge motivator in the US.
Besides somebody would figure out some kind of drug if they needed to haha.

Put it this way, put 5 million into advertising stamp collecting and 5 million into advertising bowling...you will have a far greater inpact increasing the bowlers than stamp collectors because bowling is more appealing to americans.
Magnify this for Chess and Basketball. Etc.
