@the-grifter saidThat's a great idea, especially for people who have enough room in the budget to be proper cat supporters (especially when it comes to older cats) AND who are likely to outlive the cat but unlikely to relocate.
take in an old shelter cat. for the few years you give them they give so much back.

I had a very nice shelter kitty in my life for 10 years. She was only about a year old at time of adoption, but the shelter staff seemed happy that I would adopt an "older" cat.
@the-grifter saidI agree 100%.

@the-grifter saidThank you. I volunteer at a local cat shelter and unfortunately, the older cats are the very last to get adopted. Some never do.

@boonon saidSame with dogs.

I've fostered dogs through the same dog rescue for years and I like to foster the older dogs. They are quiet, they sleep all night, and our rescue will make older dogs a "forever foster" if they don't think they can be adopted and then they pay for all of that dog's medical bills until it passes. I like giving these old guys a nice home and good food in their older years.
@Suzianne saidI am getting older. Will you foster me? PLEASE.🤞😁
Same with dogs.

@Suzianne saidI am so glad that it is a no kill shelter. That is the same at the cat shelter. They stay until they are adopted or pass away from old age.

@Suzianne saidWe have a great rescue here. They post lots of promotional videos on their dogs such as weekly news on newly adopted dogs with their new owners, fund raising ideas etc. Occasionally they try to raise extra funds for tragic cases that may need immediate surgery.
Well, it's not a shelter at all. It's a rescue.
@Drewnogal saidIndeed, sounds like a good group.
