I hope they thought this through - but good news all the same.

And how long has Firefox been ad-free and no charge?

PS. Russ, you should make RHP subscriptions free to increase your market share.

Free AND ad free? Can't be done... 🙂

Yes it is good, even though I just consider it another browser that has to be supported and tested on. (I don't use it for anything else) But, it is only fair to give them credit for giving away what is essentially a quality bit of commercial software for free.

I just hope it isn't an act of desperation before they go under.

Uuugh. I hope not. I really like my Opera browser. I've been a user for years. Unfortunately other bigger browsers have taken pretty much everything cool that Opera came up with and used it in their own browsers. Kind of makes Opera seem like they have nothing extra to offer.

I'm crossing my fingers that they stay in business, but I don't see how if they're giving away their main product. They darn sure aren't going to make up the profit loss with hats and mugs.

I used to use Opera all the time but got fed up with the ads and switched to firefox. The mouse gestures in Opera were always miles better than anything else and I'll definitely be trying it again.

All the others manage. Don't forget revenue from search engines.
