Perhaps some Americans believe that the Democratic Party in the not particularly United States will be responsible for the extinction of our species. If so I think they are misguided in their belief, personally I blame the Tories.

for me, it's been a decades long running joke that every time the gasoline prices increased or decreased i would personally blame the president of the united states, no matter his political affiliation
if i remember correctly, i began doing this in the eighties when ronald reagan was prez
it's sort of "tongue-in-cheek", as the president can only indirectly affect gas prices, and certainly not on a daily basis, which was my whine

now, if i were to blame oil corporation management, globally, then i would be closer to the bullseye
