British workers come out on strike at the lindsey oil refinery in North kilingholme near Grimsby because of 400 italian and portugese workers drafted in . I do feel sorry for these foreign workers because this mess is not of their doing , but surley jobs have got to go to the local people first ,none of these workers are specialists and i would find it hard to better are own skilled workers any where in the world .
I take my hat off to the people on strike up and down the UK because they are saying" enough is enough ". Many of these workers would of had fathers and grand fathers who fought in the two world wars so future generations would have the right to work and not to be stabbed in the back by its own elected goverment !!!
Its all Labours fault for letting the flood gates open to the EU. Hardly helped the economy has it.
Half of every site i visit is full of foreign workers.
They spend as little as possible while their here and take a nice little nest egg back home.
Fair play to them, doesn't help Britain much though eh.
So fair play to all those on strike, British jobs for British people!!!!!!

Trade barriers are slowly coming down
Competition from emerging economies esp in the Far East will get stronger.
Cheaper imported labour will replace expensive local labour.
You people (the Old World) will have to learn to compete.
Its tough but the old ways will have to change.
Jobs will be lost.
Adjustments will have to be made.
You cant stop the change.
The best option is to try to predict where the world is heading and prepare yourself/the economy.

The UK has created a "why work when I can get it for eff all" culture. I have seen locals say I am not working for £8/£10 an hour as I will lose out of this benefit and that benefit. Foreign workers who are offered the same jobs then grab these with both hands and we all shout - look at Johnny Foreigner stealing UK jobs.
"Johnny foreigner "Originally posted by adramforallI think you are a bit out of touch there with that statement , i have worksd all my life then came out of work signed on the dole and got ..thirteen pound a week ... THIRTEEN.... because my wife earns £84 for 16 hrs part time work . You tell me how to live on that ? and do you think i am sat on my arse not looking for work !!!!! i am not a reactionary person but can you imagine other people in my situation they might react a bit differently to seeing "johnny foreigner " taking all the jobs , you must be one of those dumb "get on your bikes and find work " ponce who has a nice little civil service job!!!!!

Back in the day, companies used to have to buy slaves from africa to run their equipment if they wanted to pay their workers small amounts of money due to the relatively low population numbers. Today we find huge population numbers around the world. In the countries with large populations and high unemployment, those workers are freely moving to countries where companies don't want to pay high wages to their employees.
Countries have responded to the demands of these companies by easing visa and work permit requirements, or simply turning a blind eye to "illegal workers".
What we have today is a vast system of what I call "voluntary slavery" whereby people are so desperate for money that they are willing to work for next to nothing.
The massive pool of available cheap labour is what is fueling this trend and it will only get worse. Anyone who works in any manufacturing sector in europe/n.america should not expect those jobs to remain. It is only a matter of time.
We are witnessing the disintigration of the middle-class. The root cause is world population growth.
