This is a true story
I was on a wharf one day and there was a lady walking a chihuaha dog and this pelican came down and grabbed it in its mouth and flew out to sea ,it was pretty funny at the time but now that i look back on it that poor lady was really upset and probably got pretty traumatised .It was just an amazing thing to witness.
I had a similar experience while walking along a canal. This sea gull swooped down and plucked a Moorhen chick out of the water. It's parents went nuts and chased it as far as they could but the gull just took off and the hens were left grounded. The weird thing was that, once they realised they couldn't catch the gull, the hens just went back to what they were doing before as if nothing had happened! Nature is cruel, but animals deal with it so much better than we do.

EDITI've seen the video of the pelican/pigeon and its a gruesome sight... even for one not easily scared like myself. Those kids must have been frightened stiff. Is the solution to the trafalgar square pigeon problem a few pelicans?

The worst are those sick ####ers who feed left over chicken to ducks. Encouraging cannabilism.
What I can't understand is why people feed pigeons (I'm referring to urban pigeons, not wood pigeons). "Urban" pigeons as I call them are filthy, they fly low and scare the hell out of me, they ruin statues and sh.t on people in train stations (speaking from experience here).
There are too many of them. Same with seagulls in this country, they've been known to divebomb people as they've learnt to associate people with food. 😞

Originally posted by FrenchQueenDon't worry the seagulls ensure that even a full grown swan cannot get the bread let alone a full grown duck so a duckling getting bread is very rare.
