As Assistant TD (ooh how posh!) in charge of the 1500s section I
thought I'd just say...
At the moment I've got the following people down to play in the 1500s
section:-
Lioness 1545
Bishopford 1542
Weller 1522
Luck 1502
Only 4 people. If I've missed anyone can you let it be known.
We would obviously like as many as possible to enter so if you're in
the 1500s and would like to play slap yer name down.
(We could do with more peeps in the higher ratings generally)

My sincerest apologies Joost, I forgot to add you. Got you down now.
Joost 1573
Lioness 1545
Bishopford 1542
Weller 1522
Luck 1502
We still could do with more people at any rating level but especially
those in the 1500s, 1600s and 1700s

Just a thought, but why is it necessary to segregate people anyway?
Why not throw the whole thing open to everyone? Chess isn't so
predictable that the victories would always go to the higher ranked
player and in my opinion the best tournements are always those with
the potential for a shock.
Actually, I'd go a stage further and propose just a one-off game, with
the white player enjoying the equivalent of home advantage.
Obviously that would require quite a lot of tossing of coins on the part
of the organisers but it ought to be workable enough.
Rich.
This is not a "Segregation"...this is a "Class KO"
That is the way the tourney is...that way at least a 1300 knows he will
playing against another 1300...and not me...how depressing would
that be that a low rated player would not even have a chance in his
first game?
Win your class and then you have a shot at beating the others.
The rules are already set...and they will be followed.

Fine - I was just suggesting a way around the problem of lack of
numbers. I think most people would agree that a knock-out
tournement should ideally have at least 16 contestants and it doesn't
look like you'll make that for certain classes. Please don't take
offence to my use of the word segregation though. I assure you
nothing was meant by it.
Rich.
