Another sad death. Kind of spooky that both he and SI went out in the same week, both doing the thing they loved and had dedicated their lives to...
The guy really was a legend - I remember watching some of his Bathurst wins as a kid...

RIP Peter Brock

Can't believe Brocky has gone too. We were watching the cars parade here in Perth and saw him drive past a couple of hours before he crashed...

Peter Brock, Steve Irwin, and Colin Thiele died this week. Colin Thiele wrote Storm Boy, if you didn't know. Died same day as Irwin.

Worst week in Australia ever.

You sound an awful lot like Xanthos when you say that. From your description I get the feeling this isn't what you're looking for.

Agreed. It was a cheap shot. I have edited it out. I would appreciate you editing the "quote" part of your post, with my apols.

Never heard of this person, but it sounds like they were very good at what they did and very popular.

It reminds me of a show I watched about the races Mercedes used to have against AutoCar (Audi now).

Some guy was crazy great driver and even cleaned house in a thick fog because he knew the track they raced on so well. We are talking real racing, not NASCAR where they hate the right turn to no end.

Anyway, this guy was trying to break about 190 or so and did it... but wanted to go again. This was on the Autobahn and on his second run a gust of wind swept him into a tumble.

They found him sitting position against a tree, but he was broken up and dead. Very sad, and just watching the show and thinking of the history I was pretty moved.

I don't remember the years, names, but I think he was driving for Mercedes and the speed of the crash was near 200 MPH.

I don't want to change the subject of this thread, as I feel my post is rather on subject... I have nothing but the greatest respect for this driver, just thought I would share my thoughts considering I have no idea who they were, but know for sure it stinks when something goes wrong.

I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of an Australian stereotype now, you'd have an awful 'I'm next, I know it' feeling.

I'm guessing Rolf Harris is on large quantities of valium.

I thought it was well known that skeeter and xanthos are one in the same
