Another famous Australian has met their untimely death, with motor sport legend Peter Brock being killed after his car hit a tree during a rally in Western Australia today. Known as 'Peter Perfect' and the 'King of the Mountain', Brock won the Bathurst 1000 nine times through the 1970s and 80s.

Never heard of this person, but it sounds like they were very good at what they did and very popular.
It reminds me of a show I watched about the races Mercedes used to have against AutoCar (Audi now).
Some guy was crazy great driver and even cleaned house in a thick fog because he knew the track they raced on so well. We are talking real racing, not ...[text shortened]... ing I have no idea who they were, but know for sure it stinks when something goes wrong.
P-
Peter Brock not only raced here for 32 years at the top level, he also competed in the Spa 24 hour race getting a third and a Le Mons 24hr event gaining a second place on his only attempt. Man could drive is about the best compliment i can give as an Australian, know what i mean?
He retired from professional V-8 touring car competition in 1996, and in his retirement he took up Targa racing around the world, including the UK where he gained respect and friends.
He collected a tree at high speed in a Veteran US Brock Cobra Coupe, a car model i have never seen before but it looks like an excellent beastie, and the Australian "King" died doing what he loved.
A very big hole has been left in Australian Motorsport. For you folks overseas, imagine if Michael Schumacher or Al Unser dieing most unexpectantly.
Very rude shock to all Aussies is Steve Irwin and Peter Brock passing on in the same week.
So sad.
