Good or bad ?
We all know about "pity f**ks" . Sooner or later we all end up on one side of that fence or the other .
So what about "Pity Recs" ? Ravello's regecting any form of pity after his cd's we stolen . He has his dignity . Others would whip their own mother for a rec , and have no dignity about getting them . Where do you stand ? Rec ...[text shortened]... you resort to self abuse and rec yourself if you could and you weren't getting any elsewhere ?

I have a morbid fascination with why people do care though . This is part of trying to find out why .
Originally posted by Moldy CrowI've heard people talk about them as a reference to how interesting someone is. If they've got lots of recs than people like what they say and are worth listening too.... not a hugely proven theory, cos even I've got a few recs and much like a few other people on this site I jsut talk bollocks and rant about stuff.

I hate pity recs. I think I got a bunch on one of the Word Association threads (did you know that it multiplied?).
I like recs in general though, and wish I had more. I think the original idea behind them was a good one - to alert readers to posts that are interesting, funny, cool, and generally worth reading. I'd like my rec collection to represent that about my posts. Unfortunately, recs get thrown around a bit too freely these days, so the meaning or significance attached to them is garbled or lost. Pity recs doubly so.
But if anyone wants to rec this post, out of pity or whatever, that would be OK...

a post with those two words was recced a few times. I think that shows the low value of recs.
