It's totally wrong, unless you are talking about American pizza which is wrong in itself.
Some of the best Pizza around comes from The East Coast USA. We have many Greeks and Italians, and if they can't do it right I don't know who does.
I can't believe you've blanketed the entire USA as having bad pizza... Shame!

I'm lucky to have lived in Little Italy in Toronto and experience authentic pizza. It's nothing like the doughy, greazy, over-toppinged crap you get from 95% of the joints in N.A. I've been told by many Italian nationals that the pizza there was pretty close to the real thing (of course they didn't say it was as good, they are Italian after all).

And what do Greeks have to do with Pizza?
Originally posted by PhlabibitYou can probably get Italian pizza and lots of other kinds of pizza in the US, but there's a certain pizza style that's called "American pizza" in Europe (or at least in Germany), and that's what I am talking about. Unfortunately, that's the kind of pizza you get at most pizza restaurants here in Norway, and most of the frozen pizza is also that type. They put weird stuff on it and serve it with dip. What the heck?

If you guys are basing your "American Pizza" on Domino's or Pizza Hut... yes, "American Pizza" sucks.
When I get a pizza it's usually Onion, Black Olive, Sausage, Meatball, Anchovies, Hot Peppers and I like it well done so the vegies get a bit crisp.
Have you ever been to the east coast of the USA?
If you say no, then you've never had a good "American Pizza".

dough with an equally dumbfounded amount of cheese on it. Of course, the
word "pan" suggest an entirely different approach, but still... 😕
Nae, what do I know? All I know is that I love pizza with a thin dough and
fresh, juicy vegetables. You know? The kind that's not all dried out leaving a
dry crisp with chewie cheese?

I've never seen a Greek restaurant that made Pizza, though. Well, except pizza places in Greece, but it's not Greek related or that common.
I may be wrong, though. Is it common in the US for Greek places to have Pizza?
Most of the pizza in America does suck. The only truly good pizza I've had was in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut. Most of the rest tastes like Domino's. I think there are two reasons for this.
*NY/NJ/CT has a lot of Italians.
*I'm told that the water, elevation, humidity...etc. in those states is ideal for making good pizza dough.
I have yet to find decent pizza in California. Boston was fair, but not good.
Pizza in California is also grossly overpriced. Ordered two pizzas for delivery from Round Table not long ago. $50 at the door. The pizza was absolute crap.
