Been playing here a long time now, usually pretty slow and with the same people, today though I wanted some new games and found however a very limited offer.
Has the player population on this website diminished? Or did I just pick a slow period.

I hadn't clicked Open Invites for quite a spell. At present there are but 3 offers, which seems to be about 1/10th of what was usually seen. 😕

Yes, I had the same experience with inviting threads on the general forum.

I've never had much luck with Open Invites, if there are two available it's unusual. If I'm desperate for a game I do "find player" for my rating range and "is online now" and send over a challenge. Works most of the time.

My suggestion would be to subscribe and join a few active clans; you will never be short of games.

If you don't see anything you like in Open Invites, it's easy enough to create your own Open Invite. If being a non-sub prevents you from specifying ratings (I don't know if it does or not) you can put a rating request in the game name and bounce anyone who ignores it.

This very well could be the most intelligent thing I have seen you say in this forum. 😛 😉 😉

One thing I would not call divegeester is unintelligent. I could not say the same for everyone who posts in these forums, and of course "everyone" includes myself.
