I have been here a while and am curious why numerous players only accept games that are below their own rating ?

Surely, to better one's game you play against higher rated players

You should ask them, any Forum regulars in the group?

A lot of reasons thinkable:

* People want to increase their rating or keep a high winning ratio.
* People wanting to choose higher rated oppoenent, but are open to serve the lower rated.
* people not updating their rating choice in many years.
* ...

I say…”To each his/hers own”. I play anyone…higher or lower.👍

Some like myself carry a lot of games I have a range from 1200 to 1750 I believe. People who are friends can play me if they are under or over that rating. I play a few hundred games at a time and am on two other Sites. I haven't concerned about my rating now in some time. I just let people know it floats between 1200's and 1500's because I play everyone and play in tournaments, and clubs, Private Games, Club Games, of course my Clan games are always Played first and take Priority over the others. I agree the only way to get better is too play higher rated players!!! That I am still working on!!! 😉

Odds are pretty good he will stay where he is at if he plays only lower rated players!!!

The current rating is the one used to calculate points won and lost.
It doesn't necessarily reflect a players true ability

I now only play tournament games so that I can learn something from them though I do have the occasional game with GBS for a chat.
