I have a similar set but it's Green vs. Red. It's in a box probably in my garage since I looked every place else.
Mine was ceramic with sand inside if I remember. Now I'll need to search it out in the next 5 to 7 days and see if I can finally find it. Perhaps some of my missing chess books will show up while doing so in the garage.

Edit!~ Mine comes with no board, just the pieces.
