Found this crazy 96 piece chess set on ebay today..
Does anyone know the year or make of this?

WOW!~

I have a similar set but it's Green vs. Red. It's in a box probably in my garage since I looked every place else.

Mine was ceramic with sand inside if I remember. Now I'll need to search it out in the next 5 to 7 days and see if I can finally find it. Perhaps some of my missing chess books will show up while doing so in the garage.

Edit!~ Mine comes with no board, just the pieces.

It is a copy, made in Taiwan, circa 2009, of an original 1875 set by Coeh Greasale, the master chess set maker of his day.

lol bid is at 200 USD now. Gold is OK, but i dislike the look on the pieces faces. For 200+ USD you can at least expect one smile?

In High school we had the molds for these ceramic sets. I made one, it sucked, when you bam a piece it shatters. I mean if you can't bam pieces on a board, why even play? 😛
