I've entered an $11 tournament for tonight, with a guaranteed pot of $250,000.

9000 players so far, but i expect that to double.

I want to be at least placed in the top 1000.

That's going to be a LOOOOOOOOONG tournament.

If you want my advice, play quite aggressively while the blinds are cheap to try and build a decent stack early on. It'll be your life line in the middle game where you'll see all the tight players hitting inflection points as their chips are eaten away by the bigger blinds.

I actually slept through the early rounds of a 3000 player tourney, and still ended up in the money. I had about 8000 in chips from double ups, and then felll asleep. I woke up with 1400 left, and the blinds up at 400/800 (that fact is a bit hazey, but it's about right).

It should take a good four hours anyway, probably a lot more. The problem is, you have to double up at least 10 times by the time you get to the money, or you just wont get there atall.

I'm trying out the Juno Invitationals on Pokerstars this weekend, trying for a cash finish so I can build a bankroll without an initial investment. If I get below a dollar I guess I'll have to try my luck with limit hold'em.

Ok, entering another tournament, starting in 40 minutes. This is just a dollar buyin, but it's something to do on my day off.
