I LOVE Metallica.
Their best album is Master of Puppets, and you can usually tell true fans from... let's say sub-par fans by which album they like better, Master of Puppets or The Black Album, which is of course their most commercial album and has some wonderful songs on it, but all around is not as good as Master of Puppets. That's just always the way I looked at it. Favorite song on M of P: "Battery", one of the only metal songs I can hear 1,000 times and somehow someway not lose any of the adrenline rush!

How many people like Metallica? And what song(s) do you like?
I've always been drawn to the contrasts in 'One,' given that I loved the dismal book it was based on (Johny, Get Your Gun).
Other favorites include: For Whom the Bell Tolls, Sanitarium (Welcome Home), Battery, and Harvester of Sorrow.
It's been an awfully long time since I've listened to one of their albums now, I'll admit. I should stop being a musicological snob (I'm listening to Bach cantata 210 right now) and listen to a few cuts of my youth.
There is no doubt, though, that this group is one of the greatest bands in the 20th century.
