When I was about 12 I spilt a mug of really hot coffee , while sitting down, scolding the side of my body. From memory I put cold water on it, but it left a stain on the skin that I was self conscious of for many years. - Flashforward 15 years and I decided on a whim to have a tattoo done over the stain (a roaring black panther) which almost immediately boosted my confidence, especially when on the beach etc.
Sometimes, in life, it's possible to turn a negative into a positive.
@Kewpie saidIn my own case it is the only tattoo I've ever had done, and would have none at all if not for the burn the tattoo disguised.
I will never understand the mindset that drives piercings and tattoos. Those of us with disfiguring scars we didn't choose to acquire just don't get it.
In general I dislike the prevalence of tattoos, but sometimes they serve a purpose.
