It's not a collection of yuppies, which is kinda what Sun described. Most hipsters around here are part of the various music and party scenes and are, for the most part, not very career-oriented.

EDIT - I make far too much money, dress far too conservatively and am far too sober to be a hipster. I am a music snob, definitely. But I have been since I was 15, so it's really not fair to compare me to the hipsters of the pitchfork generation. :'(
