I'll start it out...
20 yrs ago when my daughter got married I bought her a spiffy new microwave. It was the latest technology and had a white case. It also had a rotating dish in it which made me envious that I couldn't afford something like that for myself... but I figured, some day, some day I'll have one of those nice new microwave ovens with a white housing and a rotating dish. For now it was more important to give her and her new husband the luxury. Unfortunately, she and hubby moved to Las Vegas, got hooked on drugs and pawned the microwave. 🙁
Well I gotta tell you, it's impossible to push your values on someone else, even if it's your own kid. All you can do is give them support and push them in the right direction, but you can't condemn them if they choose a different path.
Ok, so just a few minutes ago I tried to use my old, ugly looking brown microwave and guess what? It stopped working! At first I felt remorse, kinda like a death in the family... but then I started thinking about all the new possibilities this offered! Yes! Tomorrow I would go to the store and buy a nice, white-colored microwave - one that had a rotating dish! 😵
So even though I'm eating cold scalloped potatoes with ham from a container as I write this, and a little teary eyed thinking about my daughter, I think tomorrow will be a better day.
