Howdy
I've just sold an electric guitar on Ebay and was planning on sending it via Royalmail. I've since discovered that they won't compensate for damage to musical instruments. This leaves me in a spot because the buyer is about 250 miles away.
Anyway, has anyone here had experience of sending a musical instrument by post and know any couriers that will compensate?
Thanks
Jim

Yes, I think I will have to do that and hope for the best. Just not a nice thought putting £300 worth of guitar into someone's hands that I don't even know.

Postage will be about £30. Not sure of the exact fee as I am currently constructing a courier proof box for it, so gross weight is unknown. Train would be roughly £60 I think, plus 11 hours of my life that I would never get back.
I was kind of hoping that someone closer to home would have bought it but, beggars can't be choosers huh.

you could've put pick up only as an option, probably would've got less money for it though.

i'd go with the train personally.

Dangerous territory! If you can't send it in a hard guitar case then at the very least make sure you take off the strings to release the pressure on the neck.

Just wondering... Did you try the Royal Mail's Special Delivery Service? They'll insure against loss up to £1000 I believe, plus you can track it on line. My wife has tried the private couriers, but in our experience they just leave parcels on the step, or you're faced with a twenty mile round trip to collect it. Hope this helpsπŸ™‚
