Being thick, i didnt realise different region of DVD meant anything other than different subtitles. but, as most of you will have worked out by now, I am left with 2 new DVDs that dont work. I ordered them over the internet and they arrived today, in asian format. can they play on anything here? my PS2 doesnt work, my DVD player doesnt, i havnt tried this computer because i dont think there is any point, and because im on crutches and the DVDs are downstairs so i dont think its really worth going to get them as i see a trend of "regional error" and fear it will strike again. anything i can do besides sell them to asians or stupid people who will buy them (yes-like me)

You can normally change the region on your computer's player [beware they only let you change it 5 times on some - though some later ones have been made all-region playable] so you could copy them all to your hard drive [after setting the region] and then make a copy onto your own dvd or cd. Then change back to your usual region.
Simple.
Then check before buying next time.
Edit: Go into 'Device Manager' [Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware tab/click on the + sign next to your DVD device.
Right click the player and then 'Properties' - on the DVD region tab set it to the Asian country required.

Try Right clicking on 'My Computer' - Properties - Hardware - then as above.
You can change your DVD players region by punching in a code on your remote. I have changed all the DVD players in my house to "all region" and now they play any DVD, any region code.
All you do is look up your DVD player on the below website, and it will give you the "hack" codes to punch into your DVD player. Then voila.
