How advisable is it to trade a knight and a bishop for a rook in a game's relatively early progression where equal material has been lost on either side? Is there an intangible that would negate the typical point assignation to each piece?

In the early going, a knight and bishop are TWO attacking forces that are generally superior to the rooks ONE unit. Then again things are dependant on the position so the above is generally correct 🙂
