radio word change

I know of a song that has the word "nigger" in it. Well, I heard it on the radio and they replaced it with the word "playa." I don't understand why they would do that considering that "playa" is a worse word to put into people's head. I also heard it with no word there. Why couldn't they just keep it like that? Any comments?
