Top Ramen noodles, today a case of 36 packs costs $3.50 , and with about $20.00 more for some onions, hamburger, and stewed tomatos, you can eat for a month for pennies a day.
That's how I got through college, only the additional ingredients were a lot cheaper 35 years ago. Strangely enough, I believe ramen noodles were 10 cents a pack way back then, so they are a good dollar value since inflation hasn't affected them, if my memory is correct.
