Explain the justice of a system when you win a game, lose a game, and lose 26 points. I understand the math. I want the justice of the system. Or you have a drae and lose 30 points. My question: " can you refuse any game any time without being penalized in some way? For example your team or your clan. Can't move up in the ratings. Win 5 games and pick up a few points, lose one to a sandbagger and drop 30 points. Where is the justice to this system?

Simple...keep winning and you won't have to worry about it. 😛

I think the purpose of the system is to execute a mathematically defined adjustment of rating points as a result of a game played, rather than to mete out justice in any situation. Justice is so often a matter of perspective. If a cat kills a bird on your lawn, is that justice? The cat would argue that it is instinctively instilled in her to kill birds so she can feed her kittens. The bird will argue that she was on the lawn seeking food to feed her chicks. Your assessment might depend on whether you ask the cat or the bird. In your case the "sandbagger" might feel it is justice for you to lose more points when losing to him, because he might feel affronted by being accused of sandbagging, especially if you happened to be mistaken in making the accusation.
One thing I do believe about justice is that far too many people have wasted their entire lives looking for it, when in fact it might well be a non-existent commodity.

evil pawn... is that a programm? No evil entity should complain about justice...

But to the facts: It is not just. If your clan captain sets you up against a snadbagger he may be not up to his job. If she does it repeatedly you should consider to leave her clan.
In tournaments you have hardly a chance against sandbaggers.

But what you can do is to resign without moving that keeps your rating points.

Oh and if you just get a few rating points per win your opponents are much lower rated than you? Win against equally rated or better still higher rated opponents to get many points.

Actually the system is justified, it is those few who circumvent the system that are not. I also believe that it is accurate for this site, meaning that over time your rating will reflect your playing strength. I believe that evilpawn is just frustrated over this happening once maybe twice...I don't think that you will repeatedly lose to sandbaggers.

EDIT: As I look through his rating graph, I fail to find him losing to any sandbaggers. The times where he loses a significant amount of points were due to bad play against lower rated players. We have all been guilty of underestimating our opponents.

There is no justice.

The only way to avoid this is to stop playing chess.

You need a better clan, clan leader, or communication with your clan leader. If you feel a user is bagging it, don't make the games.

If your clan leader doesn't agree with your ideas, you are in the wrong clan.

If you are the clan leader, you're not doing your homework.

I won't argue the replies. Thank you all for your input. But, in my defense, I am able to know when an opponent is a better (not lucky) player than I. And when someone beats me like he has a 2000 rating and in actuality, has only 1400-1500 I am able to determine that also. I know the mechanics of the rating system. My pointis: everyone seems to hate the guy using the chess engin, when in fact, the sandbagger is just a low life a player as the other.

And for the record; I didn't expect any intelligent replies, I simply felt like bitching and letting the scumbags know I am not fooled. I have the utmost respect for the hard players out there, win or lose. but I have unlimited contempt for the cheaters.

You will have a lolt of support in stating that sandbaggers are a pain.

But if you haven't been a victim, one wonders. And your complain was about the rating points...

But all in all I am probably just so dumb as to take words for their face value.

In closing: If the sandbaggers were disciplined we wouldn't have a need for the clubs. Just the number of people signed up should tell you something. I am in the process of compiling a list of what is made up of players who have stats pointing to them being sandbaggers and I will pass it along in time to my club leader. Then he can do as he sees fit. But at least, I will know who they are and all you uninterested people out there, enjoy their company.
