The way I see it is this...
If I have half a chance of claiming back £600 in bank charges then I am going to do it. Credit cards and banks have plenty of money whereas I don't.
I am not saying that the charges are unfair, only that they don't reflect the true cost of costs incurred by the banks. The law states that penalty charges are only legal when the ...[text shortened]... ack. I do hope that this doesn't offend you too much and that you understand my logic.

As for accruing £600 in charges? Well I fell into the trap. Idiocy, depression, unemployment and alcoholism were all contributing factors. I really thought I was going to go to prison or something. Until I went to the CAB. Nice people. They put it all into perspective for me.
Anyway, I have a steady job now which I enjoy. All I want to do is pay this thing off as quick as possible. That, I don't have a problem with. I've spent the money, now it's time to earn it. I just want to get it paid back as quick as possible.

A couple of years ago, I set up a Direct Debit to pay for my current Internet connection. The service provider attempted to take double the fee my very first month on the service. This was more than I'd left in the account and so the bank tried charging me for the failed transaction. However, the bank and I soon reached an agreement and the matter was closed...
I told them to **** off.
