Originally posted by darvlayYes, it makes sense. The title story, 'Sin City', is the best IMO, but it's really violent. 'That Yellow Bastard' might be a better choice for a start and then if you like the universe Frank Miller put together, you can go ahead and read some of the other ones. The b/w drawings in the series are amazing.
If the violence is done in a tasteful way (??) than I don't mind it. I just don't like violence for the sake of violence. Does that make any sense?
I've heard that the Sin City series is excellent.
Swan Song by Robert McCammon.
Talk about theatre of the mind!
There is no way any Hollywood guru could master this story and match the written word!
Do yourself a favor and read this one! After this you will scoff at Stephen King.
Has anyone else in our community read this or any other of McCammons novels?
If I could humbly suggest taking a look at the reviews section of the website I edit: http://www.thealienonline.net (direct link: http://www.thealienonline.net/ao_020.asp?tid=2&scid=18) ?
We have a lot of graphic novel fans among our reviewers, and carry quite a few reviews (some more are due to be posted this weekend... just as soon as I stop playing chess...). If you dig around in the archive section (which we're in the process of improving) you'll find a whole bunch more as well (direct link: http://www.thealienonline.net/ao_050.asp?baa=1&tid=2&scid=18).
Apologies for the shameless self-plug... 😉
