I was asked recently to repair a machine that had seen some action.
I now believe the computer had belonged to that kid.
I have seen some destruction in my time, but looking down on that poor beast made me frightened that the owner may come to collect it.
Sadly it didn’t make it.
The diagnosis took all of 3 seconds and I attributed the demise to the placement of a nodding EMU body plunged at an angle of 64 degree’s into the side of the base unit. Also, strangely enough, there was an indentation on the front of the case that appeared as if a human nose had been pressed into it.
To this day I have three burning questions:
1) Where is the head of the nodding emu?
2) What force was required to insert a pointy piece of metal about 4 mm in diameter and 10cm in length, through the metal casing of a base unit?
3) Could a nose make such a dent?
I tried reproducing question two above with a colleagues nodding giraffe (and their computer), the head came away quite easily and was hidden behind the filing cabinet. But on trying to plunge the metal body through the case resulted in me hurting my hand. At this point I decided to abort the test to answer question 3 above.
To this day the case of the missing giraffe remains unanswered.
(I bet fatty gets the blame)
