Or return to me my desiging and drawing skills I once thought I had. Please. I really want these things. They'd make my life so much more rewarding.

You serious? You'd teach me? That would be fantastic. I can borrow a guitar, my second oldest got one for Christmas (it's lost it's attraction for her now).
I can see my instructional vid now.
"Put ya fingahs heah! Strum!"
Chords like D G A Am C E Em are pretty simple open chords. F was a hard one for me at first.
There are others... but having a guitar (TUNED!) in hand is important. I suck bad enough, playing a guitar out of tune is discouraging because playing is hard enough on it's own without your guitar sounding crap. You can get a tuner for about 20 bucks.
Having a local guy or gal who plays is a help also. They'll show you this or that... I was lucky enough to have 3 or 4 friends who play, all with different styles so I never wore any of them out asking.
There are also LOTS of free lessons online.
My Junky Esteban came with an instructional vid... though I never watched more then 3 minutes of it.
Let me know when you have a guitar.
Mikelom still around? He wrote some stuff up for me once trying to get me to pluck... I just strum.

Originally posted by SuzianneFor the beginner with no musical experience, a pitchpipe specifically for guitar is best because it will get close enough to the notes and also teach the ear the intervals between notes.

There are a lot of electronic tuners from $13-$33 that work great with guitar.

I recommend it to anyone who enjoys painting and drawing.
I'm considering a Fine Art degree now. 🙂

For 5 years I studied art and I specialized in textile design. Use it or loose it, as they rightly say.

The Pitchblack is true bypass so it does not suck any tone out of your axe.
If you're just talking about acoustic guitars then just buy a tuning fork (or pitchpipe) and tune it by ear. You're a musician so that should be easy.
If you insist on buying a battery-operated tuner for your acoustic guitar then, truthfully, it doesn't matter which one you buy. Just go with a trusted name and not something like Gitson or Funder.

My other one got ran through the washer, it was not a clip on. It was nice though, since I could strum a chord and it would tell me what chord. The clip on one I have now only does notes.
I think they call it chromatic when the tuner recognizes notes AND chords.
It's 25 bucks or so... ask the guy at the shop, he'll let you know.

I tried to put it back together... I found a little speaker thing in with the socks thinking, "ut oh".
Sure enough, next I find batteries, servos, spindles, cogs, chips, and all sorts of other stuff in the laundry. No way to fix it.
