Or maybe, JUST maybe, people don't believe in the the tribulation because it upsets the notion of a loving and merciful God. I mean what god wouldn't prefer secular civility to religious savagery?

I see your point though, humans ARE self-important. I mean, after all, we were only left on our own to take care of this planet while God, I guess, is on his 3000 year vacation. Sure, he speaks to SOME people but unfortunately none of that advice is meaningful on a global scale. Thanks for all your help, God!
